Mrs. Kamp grew up right here in the Hamptons, living in Hampton Bays and attending Our Lady of the Hamptons in Southampton from Kindergarten through 8th Grade and then moving on to Hampton Bays Secondary School where she graduated in June of 2001. Mrs. Kamp had always been interested in the arts, performing in school plays, singing in the choir, and was a very active company member of the Danse Arts Ballet Company in Bridgehampton, NY. When an injury forced Mrs. Kamp to stop ballet right at the beginning of high school, she decided to join the Hampton Bays High School Chorus. From there, Mrs. Kamp’s interest in music grew and she joined the High School band, learning Flute as a Sophomore, participated in the Theatre program ever year, and even began playing the piano because she knew she was interested in pursuing a career in music education! Although Mrs. Kamp had many other interests as a high school student…serving as the editor of the high school newspaper, serving as president of the SADD organization, mentoring younger children through the Big Brothers / Big Sisters Program, completing the Honors Program and studying as many AP courses as were then available….. she knew what she really wanted to do was inspire other people through music the way she had been inspired by her high school music teachers.
Mrs. Kamp attended the University of Rhode Island where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in Voice and secondary concentrations in Flute and Piano (2005).
She returned to Long Island and immediately took a job with the Amagansett School beginning in June of 2005. While working at Amagansett, Mrs. Kamp continued to further her education and received a Masters of the Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Humanities Education from Stony Brook University (2007) and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Boston University (2009).
In 2023, Mrs. Kamp finished her journey at the Berklee College of Music at the Boston Conservatory where she completed the Graduate Certificate in Music Education and Autism Program. Mrs. Kamp is incredibly excited to have been a part of this special program and hopes to continue working with the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education to continue her professional development and learn even more ways to make music truly reach EVERYONE at the Amagansett School.
Mrs. Kamp got married in 2015 and had her daughter, Gianna, in 2017. While loving exploring the world with Gianna and her stepson Aidan, Mrs. Kamp still wanted to learn and grow more as a teacher. In 2018, Mrs. Kamp became a candidate for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification. She completed and achieved Components I, II, and III in 2019 and Component IV in 2020. As of December 12, 2020, Mrs. Kamp is officially a NBCT in Early and Middle Childhood Instrumental Music!!!! Mrs. Kamp will be continuing her work with the National Boards Program this school year as she begins her MOC (Maintenance of Certification) journey!!
