**This Month:
I can't believe it's already June!!! It's about to get EXCITING!!!!! We're putting the finishing touches on an AMAZING YEAR! Be sure to ask your child all about the exciting times they've been having in music class so far....they are eager and excited to share!!! And.....a special Second Grade Milestone.....the beginning of our RECORDER STUDY!!!!!!!!! Each child will be receiving their own recorder in the coming week (one to keep at school and one for some enhanced at home practicing). We will be working our way through the "Recorder Karate" program in our quest to become Recorder Black Belts by the end of the school year!!! Will we get there???? I bet we will :) We're going to be working on our Black Belts!! We will continue learning our first 4 notes: B, A, G, E and start putting them together in new orders and with new rhythmic patterns to learn "Oh When the Saints Go Marching In" To learn this song, we'll also be learning using our TWO NEW NOTES: High C AND HIGH D!!!!! Stuck in a recorder rut?? Why not try practicing along with this play along track to energize your at home practice time!!!
**This Year:
Second Grade comes to music class twice a week; once for a traditional General Music Class and once for a Suzuki Style Introduction to Violin Class. We're learning building on the foundations that were laid last year and continuing to learn all about the elements of music. This year, we'll begin our study of the recorder and are very excited to be participating in the Recorder Karate Program!! We'll be well on our way to earning our "Black Belts in Recorder" and can't wait until June when we will share our skills with friends and family at Wake-Up Amagansett!! We'll been busy exploring music through singing songs, playing instruments, dancing and interpreting music with our bodies, and listening to recordings and other students perform. |

Students should write the word down on their card as they leave class and look it up at home. Place your Buzzword card in the bin before lunch time on Monday and you will receive a special prize!!
