Welcome to Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 Music
A Peek Into Our Classroom |
**This Month:
I can't believe it's already June!!! It's about to get EXCITING!!!!! We're putting the finishing touches on an AMAZING YEAR! Be sure to ask your child all about the exciting times they've been having in music class so far....they are eager and excited to share!!! Stay tuned right here for all of the fun...or, better yet, ask your child to share some of our new songs with you! We'll also be making some really fun connections to some of the special themes we have going on for February Check out our Thematic Connections page to learn a bit more about how what we do in music class is connected to what we're learning about in our classroom :) **This Year: Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 each come to music class once a week. Our weekly classes will focus on making thematic connections between the music room and the regular classroom. We will be singing songs and doing activities that connect to themes and topics being covered in the Pre-K classroom. We will be using two very special programs this year: "Preschool Prodigies" "and "The Tap, Shake, And Jingle Rhythm Band." I am looking forward to this new structure for our Pre-School music program and hope that you will enjoy it too!! We'll be learning all about the elements of music...rhythm, beat, harmony and melody and building our musical vocabularies by learning all of the ways that music can be. We'll be busy exploring music through singing songs, playing instruments, dancing and interpreting music with our bodies, and listening to recordings and other students perform. |
Nursery Rhyme of the MonthBoy Nursery Rhymes are important literacy building tools. They fit perfectly into the music curriculum because they encourage students to speak with a steady pulse or beat and to speak their words rhythmically. We salute a different nursery rhyme each month with our Rhyme of the Month activities.
This Month's Rhyme: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary |
Building our Music VocabulariesWe've been learning all about how music can be and expanding our vocabularies with lots of new "music words."

Music, Literacy, and Classroom ConnectionsThis year, the Pre-K teachers and I decided to try a little experiment and connect the weekly themes and letters of the alphabet that are being taught in the General Education classroom with songs, games, and fun in the music room.
