Be sure to ask your child all about the exciting times they've been having in music class so far....they are eager and excited to share!!! To celebrate our students' success, we've added a new practice incentive to the Instrumental Lessons Program. Besides the "Battle of the Bands," students are encouraged to complete their weekly practice sheet and practice every day with the "Building Blocks of Success" program. You can learn more about this exciting new practice incentive HERE. Remember, minutes spent practicing are the building blocks of success :) **This Year: All students in the Fifth and Sixth Grades are invited to become members of the Amagansett School Concert Band Program. Concert Band Class meets every week on TUESDAY. Students have their Instrumental Lessons with Mrs. Kamp once a week on TUESDAY. Parents, please help your young musician to be prepared for each lesson and for band class by bringing their instrument, music binder, and signed completed practice sheet with them to school on TUESDAY each week. Instruments should be BROUGHT HOME after each lesson or class as well so that students can be practicing each night. Be sure to visit www.jwpepper.com with your child and listen to recordings of this semester's concert repertoire. You can also play along with the recordings for a fun way to practice each day. The Breathing GymI recently learned about this resource from some high school band director friends of mine. The exercises are AMAZING and we've been trying a few out each week during band class.
Watch the clip above or search "Breathing Gym" if you'd like to breathe along at home with us! |
Battle of the BandsThe Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades are competing in a "Battle of the Bands" as a fun way to build responsibility and effort int he Instrumental Music Program. Each week, students can earn or lose points for their class by completing different tasks.

SMART GoalsWe are becoming better learners by establishing goals for ourselves in Instrumental Music this year. Each month, students should complete this goal sheet and bring it to Mrs. Kamp so that we can continue guiding our own learning.
