**This Month:
I can't believe it's already June!!! It's about to get EXCITING!!!!! We're putting the finishing touches on an AMAZING YEAR! Be sure to ask your child all about the exciting times they've been having in music class so far....they are eager and excited to share!!! Stay tuned right here for all of the fun...or, better yet, ask your child to share some of our new songs with you! We'll be exploring all sorts of songs and games focused around keeping the steady beat, using ostinato patterns, playing with, reading and writing rhythms and even doing some composing with the non-pitched classroom percussion instruments! We'll also be continuing our journey towards reading the noted of the treble staff! We'll also be learning all sorts of other songs, games and dances with various pitched instruments including Melody Bells, Tone Bars, and, a class favorite, Boomwhackers! We will also continue to explore the Pre-School Prodigies program and learn all about melody with Mr. Rob!! We'll be exploring all sorts of songs, games, and activities. **This Year: Kindergarten comes to music class twice a week; once for a traditional General Music Class and a second time for a Suzuki Based Introduction to Violin Class. We'll be learning all about the elements of music...rhythm, beat, harmony and melody and building our musical vocabularies by learning all of the ways that music can be. We'll been busy exploring music through singing songs, playing instruments, dancing and interpreting music with our bodies, and listening to recordings and other students perform. We'll be exploring all sorts of songs and games focused around keeping the steady beat, using ostinato patterns, playing with, reading and writing rhythms and even doing some composing with the non-pitched classroom percussion instruments! We'll be using "The Tap, Shake, and Jingle Rhythm Band" curriculum and supplementing with activities that go along with themes from our Kindergarten classroom. We'll also be continuing our journey towards reading the noted of the treble staff! We'll also be learning all sorts of other songs, games and dances with various pitched instruments including Melody Bells, Tone Bars, and, a class favorite, Boomwhackers! |
Nursery Rhyme of the MonthNursery Rhymes are important literacy building tools. They fit perfectly into the music curriculum because they encourage students to speak with a steady pulse or beat and to speak their words rhythmically. We salute a different nursery rhyme each month with our Rhyme of the Month activities.
This Month's Rhyme: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary |
Building Our Music VocabulariesWe've been learning all about how music can be and expanding our vocabularies with lots of new "music words."
