Weekly Themes and Music Class.......
Weekly Thematic Connections 2019 - 2020
**February 24th....The Theme of the Week is Queens and Fairy Tales, but in Music Class, we are going to celebrate the birthday of one of Mrs. Kamp's favorite authors...."Dr. Seuss!!" In music class, we will be doing a special drumming activity based on the Dr. Seuss book, Hand, Hand , Fingers, Thumb to coordinate with this theme.

**February 10th....The Theme of the Week is "Valentine's Day" In music class, we will be singing some special songs about Love, Valentine's, and Friendship!
** January 6th and January 13th....The Themes of the Week are "Winter Months" Winter Animals" In music class, we learned the "Freeze and Melt" song and pretended to be doing different wintry activities while we sang. We learned the Finger-play "Five Little Men All Made of Snow" and used our hands to tell the story. We also sang "Snowman" and pretended to build a snowman in the classroom. Finally, we listened to "Snowflakes" and took out the ribbon streamers and blew our wintry, windy selves all around the classroom!! I'd say Amagansett Pre-K is pretty ready for some winter fun!! (And I hear it's coming our way soon!!)

**December 2nd and December 13th....The Theme of the Week is "Holidays" In music class, we are learning songs for the Holiday Season that we will be sharing through some special events in the next few weeks! We will be going "caroling" through the school and singing a song to each class later in December during our music class. We will also be sharing our holiday songs with our families and friends on Friday, December 20th at a special presentation in the library!!

** November 12th.....The Theme of the Week is "Leaves"" Due to the Veterans Day Holiday, we did not have music class this week, but, never fear, songs with this theme will show up at various times throughout the school year :)
** November 4th....The Theme of the Week is "Nursery Rhymes" In music class, we continue to work on our Nursery Rhymes, mastering one rhyme a month while we also learn about rhythm and beat.
** October 28th....The Theme of the Week is "Pumpkins" In music class, we learned the "Five Little Pumpkins" song and rhyme and even acted it out. We also talked about pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns and learned the song, "Pumpkin, Pumpkin." We learned the song and then learned a fun partner dancing game that goes along with it. The class just could not stop singing and playing the entire period :)

** October 22nd....The Theme of the Week is "Make Believe" In music class, we learned the "I Wish I Were A" song and pretended to be different animals while we sang. We also sang "My Hands" and pretended that our hands were different things. Playing Make Believe is sooo much FUN!!!!
** October 14th.....The Theme of the Week is "Feelings/Friends/Farm/Flag"" Due to the Columbus Day Holiday, we did not have music class this week, but, never fear, songs with these themes will show up at various times throughout the school year :)
** October 7th.....The Theme of the Week is "Fire Safety." In music class, we learned the "I'm a Firefighter" song and pretended to be firefighters saving the day. We used red boomwhackers and red desk bells in many of our songs because fire trucks are usually red :)

** September 24th.....The Theme of the Week is "Community." In music class, we watched this video on youtube and sang a cool song about all of the different people who work in our community. How many people from the song can you identify seeing in Amagansett everyday?

Weekly Thematic Connections 2018 - 2019
** May 28th...This week is a letter review in Pre-K. We will be back to our musical thematic connections as they learn a new letter in the coming weeks :)
**May 20th....The Theme of the Week is "Insects / Butterfly Habitat." In music class, we will be learning some songs about caterpillars and butterflies and exploring a little bit about the life cycle of a butterfly. Unfortunately, we will not have any music classes this week as we prepare for our Shakespeare Production of, "The Tempest" on Thursday!!!
**April 29th....Pre-K classes will be reviewing letters and themes this week :) Stay tuned for a new theme coming your way soon!!!
**April 15th....The Theme of the Week is "Earth and Earth Day" In music class, I was thinking about a song I used to LOVE when I was little that happens to coordinate perfectly with Earth Day!!! The Pre-K children sang the song and talked about the Earth. With this youtube video, you can too :)

**April 8th....The Theme of the Week is "Umbrellas / April Showers." In music class, we will be exploring some songs about rain, spring, and changing weather.

** April 1st...This week is a letter review in Pre-K. We will be back to our musical thematic connections as they learn a new letter in the coming weeks :)
**March 11th....The Theme of the Week is "Green and St. Patrick's Day." In music class, we will be exploring Irish Folk Music, Irish Dance, and traditional Irish instruments as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day! We might make another special connection if the Leprechaun decides to bring us a rainbow to learn the "Rainbows Rock" song!
** January 28th....The Theme of the Week is "Yoga" In music class, we will be doing a lot of movement activities with our songs and dances this week. We'l be incorporating exercising, moving, dancing, and freely expressing our feelings through music as the Pre-K class learns all about Yoga in their classroom.

** November 26th....The Theme of the Week is "Nursery Rhymes" In music class, we continue to work on our Nursery Rhymes, mastering one rhyme a month while we also learn about rhythm and beat.
** November 5th....The Theme of the Week is "Leaves." In music class, we learned the "Fall Leaves" song and danced around the room like falling leaves using colored ribbons. Later, we changed out our colored ribbons for boomwhackers and took turns playing the instrument when our color leaf was called.

** October 1st....The Theme of the Week is "Community and Transportation" In music class, we will be singing all different songs involving modes of transportation including, "The Wheels on the Bus," "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," and "I've Been Working on the Railroad!"
** September 24th.....The Theme of the Week is "Community." In music class, we watched this video on youtube and sang a cool song about all of the different people who work in our community. How many people from the song can you identify seeing in Amagansett everyday?
