All About the Percussion Section
|
Percussion Instruments are offered at the Amagansett School for Fourth through Sixth Grade instrumental program students. Fourth Graders begin their percussion study with the snare drum (don't worry mom and dad, we get a quiet practice pad to take home....the real snares are just for in school.) Depending on the number of percussion students, we may also extend our study to include the Bass Drum, Cymbals, and other Auxiliary Percussion Instruments (triangle, maracas, wood block, temple blocks, etc.)
**Students who take PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL are eligible to become members of the mallet percussion section, performing on the piano and xylophone as members of the band. Please call Mrs. Kamp to discuss this special program. I hope you enjoy this page of resources for all of our school's percussionists! |

Rudiment and Helpful Technique LinksThere's a lot to remember when starting to play an instrument. These are some GREAT resources to save, use at home, or even print to add to your Band Binder.
Be sure to bring or send me links to any resources you might find on your own so I can add them to the resources page :) |
Playing ExamplesSometimes it's more fun to practice when you can hear what the piece is supposed to sound like. This page provides sound clips of some of our songs, NYSSMA playing examples, and all sorts of other percussion media for your listening pleasure.
