I just wanted to share this with all of you in case anyone is interested in attending...
I would like to invite you (and your students) to a special FREE concert. I have the joy and privilege of accompanying Hornist Michael Slatkin of the Israel Philharmonic and his wife, violinist Ella Vaulin Slatkin. The concert will take place on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Riverhead Free Library. Mr. Slatkin grew up in Commack and graduated from Commack South High School (now the Middle School). SCMEA Day of Horn Director and Founder, Alan Orloff started Mike on his instrument and taught him privately until he went to Eastman. Ms. Vaulin Slatkin is a native of Yalta (Russia/USSR) and is the first call substitute violinist for the Israel Philharmonic. Our concert will include works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Franz Strauss and Mozart.
There will be a Meet the Artists reception (with good food) immediately following the concert. This event will be a wonderful opportunity for teachers and students alike to meet and talk with world-class performers, as well as hearing great music superbly played.
A flyer for the concert is attached.
