Wishing you and your families the Happiest of Holidays and a Wonderful New Year! See you in 2019!! HAPPY MUSICAL WEEK!! This is it, the big week is here...musical week!! Our bi-annual all school winter musical, "The Best Gift EVER" is this Thursday night, December 13th at 6:00 PM. All of the children are sooo excited to share all of their hard work with you! Click here and find out more information about your child's part in the big show! This week, volunteer students from the Third through Sixth Grade Chorus will be traveling to the East Hampton Senior Nutrition Center to spread some holiday cheer by caroling during their lunch program. This trip is always a big hit with the students and the seniors and I can't wait to go visit again. I am so proud that so many of our students have volunteered to dedicate their recess period this Friday to sharing the music of the season with others and bringing a smile to the seniors at the center. There's still time to sign up for the trip if you have not done so yet. Click here to download a copy of the permission slip and hand it back to Mrs. Kamp by TOMORROW, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11th, if you would like to join us. In other news.....
General and Performance MusicThere will be lots of special holiday activities in the coming weeks in each area of the General Music Program, so be sure to check HERE to find out specific information about your child's class! Students in our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 are preparing special holiday carols to share with their family and friends later next week. The children will also be traveling around the school and stopping in each classroom to do some holiday caroling next week. We are very excited about both of these opportunities to spread some holiday magic :) Kindergarten through Sixth Grade continue final push of preparations in General Music and Chorus classes for our big bi-annual winter musical, "The Best Gift EVER!" Students will be coming together wit the whole school during the afternoons this Wednesday and next Thursday to rehearse the entire show from beginning to end. It's soo exciting to watch the children as they see the whole performance coming together! It's even better to see how wonderfully they all support their friends in each of their "star moments" and other special features! The classes are all putting the finishing touches on their "Star Moment" songs and dances as well as some other special surprises. Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth graders have been hard at work memorizing lines, blocking scenes on stage with Mrs. Mitchell and our "Junior Director," Lissie, and learning all sorts of AMAZING choreography for their big numbers. Most classes will be starting to spend a lot of time on stage learning where to stand and how to use the microphones so that everyone will be able to hear all of their hard work. Students should keep their ears open for announcements about Scenery Workshop in the Art Room during recess. this special team of students in grades 3 - 6 will work with Ms. Paris to create the scenery, props, and even some costumes for our big production!! The show is shaping up to be a wonderful opening to the Holiday season and we hope you will all be able to join us for some winter magic on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13th at 6:00 PM. Important notices about your child's costume were sent home last week. In case you missed them, you can download a copy here:
In the Performance Music world everyone is busy preparing selections to perform at our annual Holiday concert on Thursday, December 20th at 6:00PM! We can't wait to show you how much we've grown as musicians since September!!! Parents, it might be a good idea to save your child's band web page so you can reference it for important information including practice sheets, band repertoire play alongs, the instrumental program google calendar, and, my favorite, our Remind App :)
Thanks for reading. I hope you are all enjoying this special weekly glimpse into the music room and that it is inspiring you to talk about music with your children and further explore the music website. Don't forget to stay connected by joining our Music Department Google Calendar and our Remind App reminders for Beginning and Concert Band Students. Hope to see you all at our upcoming productions as we ring in the season by sharing some musical holiday cheer! Mrs. Kamp :) I'd like to invite all Third through Sixth Grade students to participate in this special caroling event! Let's use our voices and musical talent to spread some holiday cheer!!! See you there Mrs. Kamp We have so mnay things to celebrate this week in the Music Room! The Fifth Graders will celebrate their victory in the First Quarter Battle of the Bands Competition with special donut treats and their trophy in their classroom tomorrow, Tuesday, December 4th during lunch time.
