A super special congratulations goes out to this years SCMEA (Suffolk Conty Music Educators Association) participants. The following students were nominated to participate in the prestigious Suffolk County Music Educators Association All County Music Festival back in October based on their outstanding effort and dedication in our school's music program as well as their NYSSMA festival scores. We have just heard from the festival chair people that each of them were accepted into the festival. These students from Amagansett will join students from the entire Suffolk County area to rehearse and perform a special concert later in March. Congratulations to:

What a night!! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did at last weeks Band and Chorus Holiday Concert! I would like to congratulate all of our students on an AMAZING job!! It was wonderful to see everyone's hard work and dedication really shine in an OUTSTANDING performance! I wanted to pass along congratulations to the students from Mrs. Dorr, parents, teachers, and community members. The students and I would like to send some special "Thank yous" out to everyone who made this production possible:
Now it's time to sit back, relax, watch the concert video and get to work on your Concert Critique Assignment :) Follow the link below for all of the details for this important assignment:
Students in our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 are preparing special holiday carols to share with their family and friends later in the month. The children will also be traveling around the school and stopping in each classroom to do some holiday caroling during the last week of school. We are very excited about both of these opportunities to spread some holiday magic :) In grades K - 4, we have been celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with a special focus on holiday tunes and caroling. The children have been working with the Pre-School Prodigies curriculum to learn how to play familiar carols on the bells and boomwhackers. It's been soo much fun putting instruments with our singing in this special feature! Second, Third, and Fourth Graders will be spending the beginning of this week practicing their carols one more time as they prepare for the music department's FIRST EVER "Holiday Carol Off!!" The students will be competing as classes for two special visiting judges to see which class can perform the carols the best...think a combination of America's Got Talent and American Idol...... I can't wait to hear you rock the music room on Wednesday afternoon!!! Parents, it might be a good idea to save your child's band webpage so you can reference it for important information including practice sheets, band repertoire play alongs, the instrumental program google calendar, and, my favorite, our Remind App :)
IT'S ALMOST CONCERT TIME!!!! Our annual "Holiday Concert" is WEDNESDAY night, DECEMBER 13th at 6:00 PM. The Chorus, Fourth Grade Beginning Band and the Fifth and Sixth Grade Concert Band are sooo excited to share all of their hard work with you at this year's annual "Holiday Concert!"
Thanks for reading!!
Stay tuned for updates about your child's performance date and time slot as they come in :) Check out the new schedule here and be sure to mark your child's new lesson date and time on your family calendar. Don't forget to stay connected by joining our Music Department Google Calendar and our Remind App reminders for Beginning and Concert Band Students. Mrs. Kamp :) I sent home a couple of different permission slips this week and I just wanted to post links to them here so that anyone who might be looking for a second copy would have an easy way to access it :)
AMAGANSETT SCHOOL CAROLING AT SANTA ON THE SQUARE DAY 2018 NYSSMA FESTIVAL PARTICIPATION PERMISSION I just wanted to let everyone know that the December Music Curriculum Guides have been posted online in case you are interested in learning a little more about what your child is learning about in the various areas of the music program. The easiest way to find the curriculum guide for the program that your child participates in is to go to the "About" tab at the top of the page (or click here) and then click on your child's grade level and / or performance music ensemble. From there, you will see a green button somewhere at the top of the class home page that will say "Monthly Curriculum Overviews." Clicking that green button will take you to the Curriculum Overviews for your child's program. New curriculum guides will be posted each month :)
