- To Mrs. Grahm, thank you for getting all of the sound up and running and for taping the concert so that we could watch it and complete our critique assignments.
- To Ms. Paris, thank you for our beautiful scenery! You and the students from Scenery Workshop always create such a magical transformation for our stage and it gets better each time!!
- To Mrs. Quarty and Mrs. Butts, thank you for helping print out the programs, get notes home to our parents, and take care of phone calls and passing on information! We couldn't do it without you!!
- To our accompanist, Mrs. Janet Fensterer, the chorus wouldn't sound anywhere near as wonderful without you!!
- To all of the teachers at the Amagansett School, especially everyone who volunteered their time last night to come chaperone and help us get our costumes on and props ready, thank you for always supporting everything we do and broadening our education through special experiences like this one.

Our Weekly News | In other news..... The Buzzword last week was FERMATA and it means: "A pause of unspecified length over a musical note or rest." Due to all of the special holiday events planned this week, there will be no Buzzword. Check back after vacation to start playing the game again :) We continue to salute this month's "Maestro of the Month" is Ludwig van Beethoven as we listen to his music and learn facts about his life before our play practices. Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website! |
This week, volunteer students from the Third through Sixth Grade Chorus will be traveling to the East Hampton Senior Nutrition Center to spread some holiday cheer by caroling during their lunch program. This trip is always a big hit with the students and the seniors and I can't wait to go visit again. I am so proud that so many of our students have volunteered to dedicate their recess period next Wednesday to sharing the music of the season with others and bringing a smile to the seniors at the center. There's still time to sign up for the trip if you have not done so yet. | General and Performance Music |
In grades K - 4, we have been celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with a special focus on holiday tunes and caroling. The children have been working with the Pre-School Prodigies curriculum to learn how to play familiar carols on the bells and boomwhackers. It's been soo much fun putting instruments with our singing in this special feature! Second, Third, and Fourth Graders will be spending the beginning of this week practicing their carols one more time as they prepare for the music department's FIRST EVER "Holiday Carol Off!!" The students will be competing as classes for two special visiting judges to see which class can perform the carols the best...think a combination of America's Got Talent and American Idol...... I can't wait to hear you rock the music room on Wednesday afternoon!!!
