Our annual "Holiday Concert" is WEDNESDAY night, DECEMBER 13th at 6:00 PM. The Chorus, Fourth Grade Beginning Band and the Fifth and Sixth Grade Concert Band are sooo excited to share all of their hard work with you at this year's annual "Holiday Concert!"
Our Weekly News: | In other news..... This week's Buzzword is FERMATTA. Do you know what that music word means or can you find its definition?? Everyone can get involved by checking the music room Buzzword poster or checking the Music Homepage for the weekly buzzword and bringing in a definition on a buzzword card. Special prizes for everyone who participates :) It's a new month and, with the change of the calendar, comes a change of composers. This month's "Maestro of the Month" is Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven's story of overcoming adversity and incredible odds to continue composing even after he became completely deaf is one of my favorite composer stories. What an inspiration to our students that, if you put your mind to it, you can really do anything you want to do! Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website! |
Students in our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 are preparing special holiday carols to share with their family and friends later in the month. The children will also be traveling around the school and stopping in each classroom to do some holiday caroling during the last week of school. We are very excited about both of these opportunities to spread some holiday magic :) In grades K - 4, we have been celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with a special focus on holiday tunes and caroling. The children have been working with the Pre-School Prodigies curriculum to learn how to play familiar carols on the bells and boomwhackers. It's been soo much fun putting instruments with our singing in this special feature! We will be using these caroling skills at some special events coming up throughout the month. Stay tuned for information about holiday caroling at the Amagansett Square's Annual Santa On The Square Day as well as a special Chorus visit to the Wast Hampton Senior Nutrition Center. Time to really get practicing ---- our Annual "Holiday Concert" is WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th at 6:00 PM. Both the Beginning and Concert Bands and the Chorus have been hard at work preparing for this special production. I can't believe each band only has ONE more rehearsal until the concert! My how this year has flown by!! You are going to be amazed at the work our students have been putting into concert preparation and practicing so far this year! A peek at our "Building Blocks" classroom wonder structure shows you how our practice has been growing! Parents, it might be a good idea to save your child's band webpage so you can reference it for important information including practice sheets, band repertoire play alongs, the instrumental program google calendar, and, my favorite, our Remind App :) In other news, it's time to start thinking about participating in this year's NYSSMA Solo Festival. The NYSSMA sign up sheets went home today and are due back to Mrs. Kamp on January 5th. What to learn more about the NYSSMA Solo festival? CLICK HERE. | General and Performance Music: |
Stay tuned for updates about your child's performance date and time slot as they come in :) Check out the new schedule here and be sure to mark your child's new lesson date and time on your family calendar.
Don't forget to stay connected by joining our Music Department Google Calendar and our Remind App reminders for Beginning and Concert Band Students.
