I am sooo proud of all of our students' hard work and I hope you enjoyed the performance as much as I did!!
Next week, volunteer students from the Third through Sixth Grade Chorus will be traveling to the East Hampton Senior Nutrition Center to spread some holidya cheer by caroling during their lunch program. This trip is always a big hit with the students and the seniors and I can't wait to go visit again. I am so proud that so many of our students have volunteered to dedicate their recess period next Wednesday to sharing the msuic of the season with others and bringing a smile to the seniors at the center. There's still time to sign up for the trip if you have not done so yet. Click here to download a copy of the permission slip and hand it back to Mrs. Kamp by Friday, December 16th if you would like to join us.
But the excitement and bussiness of the msuic program doesn't stop there...in other news.....
The Buzzword last week was ACCELERANDO and it means: "The Italian musical command accelerando(often abbreviated accel.) is an indication to gradually increase the tempo of a song until otherwise noted. The duration of an accelerando is marked by a dashed, horizontal line." This week's Buzzword is RITARDANDO. Do you know what that music word means or can you find its definition?? Everyone can get involved by checking the music room Buzzword poster or checking the Music Homepage for the weekly buzzword and bringing in a definition on a buzzword card. Special prizes for everyone who participates :)
We continue to salute this month's "Maestro of the Month" is Ludwig van Beethoven as we listen to his music and learn facts about his life before our play practices. Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website!
Students in our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 are preparing special holiday carols to share with their family and friends later next week. The children will also be traveling around the school and stopping in each classroom to do some holiday caroling next week. We are very excited about both of these opportunities to spread some holiday magic :)
Kindergarten through Sixth Grade continue final push of preparations in General Music and Chorus classes for our big bi-annual winter musical, "The Big Chill!" Today is our last "all school rehearsal" before the big dress rehearsal next Tuesday, Decemebr 20th. It's soo exciting to watch the children as they see the whole performance coming together! It's even better to see how wonderfully they all support their friends in each of their "star moments" and other special features! The classes are all putting the finishing touches on their "Star Moment" songs and dances as well as some other special surprises. Fifth and Sixth graders have been hard at work memorizing lines, blocking scenes on stage with Mrs. Hren and our "Junior Director," Iona, and learning all sorts of AMAZING choreography for their big numbers with the help of our "Junior Choreographer," Lua.
Important notices about your child's costume were sent home last week. In case you missed them, you can download a copy here:
