**Second Graders finished working on our Orange Belt Song, "Merrily We Roll Along!" We've mastered the song and took our Orange Belt Test!!! We will be moving on to our next belt this week....the Green Belt...as we begin to learn "It's Raining, It's Pouring!" At home practicing will be VERY helpful now as we add our right hand to the recorder and begin to explore the lower register of the instrument!! We're also adding eighth notes AND switching quickly from left hand only notes to both hand notes...this is going to be a big one :)
Parents, you can find more information about the recorder program HERE along with some helpful links for at home practice :) Recorder practice homework will be posted weekly in the music Google Classroom. THERE IS NOTHING TO SUBMIT on Google Classroom...this is just a little extra way to help you remember what you should be practicing each night. Aim for 10 - 15 minutes of recorder practice each night for the most success!!!

Check out the new Instrumental Lessons Schedule HERE and be sure to mark your child's new lesson date and time on your family calendar.
Chorus Classes:
Students voted to select our final concert repertoire from all of the songs we have been practicing! Wondering which selections made the "concert cut"....why not ask your Fourth, Fifth, or Sixth graders...I'm sure they will be very excited to share the news with you!
String Classes:
Due to COVID-19 protocols, there are no violins available to share.
SECOND GRADERS HAVE VIOLIN CLASS ON WEDNESDAY.
THIRD GRADERS HAVE VIOLIN CLASS ON THURSDAY.
Third Graders have begun adding reading music to our string classes and are currently working out of the Suzuki Violin Volume 1 method book. Students can find links to the pages we are practicing in their Google Assignments tabs. For now, books will remain at school so please print a copy of your pages out for at home practice. I can't wait to see how far we can go with the violin this year!!
Kindergarteners and First Graders have also been making fantastic progress in string class!!!! They all know all of the parts of the instrument, how to hold the violin and the bow, and how to play many songs on the open strings! Over the next few weeks, we'll be expanding our open string repertoire and possibly adding some work using our fingers on the strings!!!
Parents and parent involvement is an essential part of a students success in music, particularly in the Suzuki style of teaching. Although we can't have parents attend each and every one of our class meetings, it will be very important for your child's success that they begin practicing at home and that they see you excited and enthusiastic about all of their violin playing.
Violin practice homework will be posted weekly in the music Google Classroom. THERE IS NOTHING TO SUBMIT on Google Classroom...this is just a little extra way to help you remember what you should be practicing each night. Aim for 15 - 20 minutes of violin practice each night for the most success!!!
Be sure to check your child's string class page often. I will be posting videos, handouts, songs, and other helpful materials there for each of our classes to help build this bridge from violin at school to violin at home!
