Our Weekly Info..... | Back home in Amagansett, there's a lot going on this week, too!! The Buzzword last week was FORM and it means: "the overall structure or plan of a piece of music and it describes the layout of a composition as divided into sections." Thank you to Chloe (1), Isabelle (2), Noelly (2), and Macy (2), who all participated in this week's challenge!! Keep up the GREAT work and enjoy your prizes :) The new Buzzword is DYNAMICS. Do you know what that word's musical definition is? Can you look it up? Join the fun by completing this week's Buzzword Challenge!! We continue to salute this month's "Maestro of the Month" Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as we listen to his music and learn facts about his life each class. Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website! Thank you to Isabella (K), Andrew (4), Noelly (2), and Isabelle (2) for becomming music detectives and submitting the first Mozart Facts for our bulletin board last week. It's NYSSMA Time
| In other Performance Music news, it's time to begin preparations for this year's NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) State Solo Festival. All students in the Third through Sixth grade are invited to participate in the festival and learn a solo -- singing, instrumental, piano (for tose who study privately at home) or more than one -- to perofrm for a judge later in the spring. Participation in the NYSSMA Solo Festival is a great way to showcase student's talent, build important performance skills, grow as a person and a musician, and, most importantly, have A LOT OF FUN!! This year's festival will take place at the Eastport-South Manor School District on Friday and Saturday, May 12th and 13th. For more information about the festival or access to play-along tracks I've added for the first time this year, click HERE. |
Don't forget to stay connected by joining our Music Department Google Calendar and our Remind App reminders for Beginning and Concert Band Students.
