Our Weekly Info | The Buzzword for this week is MUSIC. Do you now what it means?? Can you find out?? Check the Buzzword board each week to find out the new word...grab a card and write the word down. Head home and look up the definition of the word. Bring it back to Mrs. Kamp and receive a prize on Friday :) looking forward to playing this game and watching your musical vocabularies grow every week!!! We began celebrating out very first Composer of the Month, Antonin Dvorak as we listened to his music and learn facts about his life each class. You can see the facts that they learned about Mr. Dvorak on display outside the music room or on the home page of this website :) Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website! |
He is saluted in today's "Google Doodle" which I thought I'd share with you :)
General Music:
Second Graders have begun a special milestone in the Amagansett School Music Program and received their Recorders last week!! I am sooo excited to begin learning recorder with the children and absolutely can not wait to start their first song, "Hot Cross Buns!" Parents, you can find more information about the recorder program HERE along with some helpful links for at home practice :)
Our Recess Music Program also begins this week! I encourage you to share the recess offerings with your children and remind them that they can come in to any of the activities whenever they want :) What a wonderful way to add more diversity to our schools music offerings! |

String Classes:
Parents and parent involvement is an essential part of a students success in music, particularly in the Suzuki style of teaching. Although we can't have parents attend each and every one of our class meetings, it will be very important for your child's success that they begin practicing at home and that they see you excited and enthusiastic about all of their violin playing.
Be sure to check your child's string class page often. I will be posting videos, handouts, songs, and other helpful materials there for each of our classes to help build this bridge from violin at school to violin at home!
You can see exactly what we learned in our first weeks of Violin Class HERE.
