March is "Music in Our School's Month!" | Let's celebrate all of the AMAZING benefits having music in our children's lives brings to them!!! In honor of Music in Our School's Month, you can look forward to some special activities in each area of the Amagansett School Music Program as well as a special visit from the East Hampton High School Ensembles who will be visiting our school on March 24th to share music with the students and answer questions about continuing music after leaving Amagansett School. Here on my blog, you will also find weekly articles about the importance of music in our children's lives and what we as parents and educators can do to help our children get all they can out of their time in music and keep music an important part of their daily lives well past elementary school :) Suffolk County Music Educator's Association (SCMEA) also celebrates Music in Our Schools Month each year by hosting the annual All County Music Festival in the month of March. Students were nominated for this prestigious event back in October and I want to extend a special congratulations to: SCMEA 2017 All County Chorus Mariella (6) Dylan (5) SCMEA All County Orchestra Curran (6) |
Our Weekly Info.....
The Buzzword was: VERSE, which means: "The part of the song where the music or melody might remain the same but the words are different each time."
The new Buzzword is KEY SIGNATURE. Do you know what that word's musical definition is? Can you look it up? Join the fun by completing this week's Buzzword Challenge!!
Another new month brings another new Composer of the Month! This month the children will be learning about Antonio Vivaldi as we listen to his music and learn facts about his life each class. We'll also be doing some special activities with one of the movements of his famous piece, The Four Seasons as we welcome Spring in the music classroom. Can you guess which season we'll be listening to the most??
Check your child's go home folder for this month's composer fact sheet as well as the directions for how to become a "music detective" and have their work featured on the bulletin board outside the music classroom and on the Music Website! Congratulations to Willow (grade 1) for being the first student to submit a composer fact this month!! Great job Willow!!!
Congratulations are in Order... | In this week's Band News, we have a lot of special congratulations to share as well!! |
